Tired of dealing with cords when charging your phone or iPad. IKEA is revealing a new solution.
According to NBC, the Swedish home store is creating an upcoming furniture line of lamps, desks and tables that will charge mobile phones and tablets with charging hotspots. Simply put your gadget on the hotspot to get a battery charge without having to deal with outlets and cords. “The new collection is part of a long term commitment from IKEA to find new innovative solutions for a better life at home,” Janice Simonsen, IKEA's U.S. design spokesperson, said in a press release. The technology is compatible with primary Samsung, but Apple products are compatible with special casing.
The chargers have been designed to work with Samsung Galaxies, Google Nexus 6 and some others. Although the chargers are not directly compatible at the outset with iPhones, adapters will be available. No word on the assembly time required for the furniture. Since you do have to hand build it yourself.
Huffington Post stated the smart furniture will cost a bit extra (about $22 more), but the hassle of not having to find (or fight) for a charger will make it well worth it. If you'd like to put one of the devices into existing desks or tables, charging kits will also be available for around $33.
