Today Facebook added a feature to let a family member take over your account when you're gone. The oft-requested feature lets you pick a friend to be a "legacy contact", who will serve as a personal page assistant. The friend will be able to manage page details, your profile picture, and new friend requests.
To turn over access to a legacy account, Facebook requires proof that a person has died. The means of identification are still in works.
If setting up a legacy contact is not really your thing, you also have the option to delete your account upon passing.
How do I set it up?
Setting up a legacy contact is pretty simple and fast. Just click the down arrow on the upper right hand corner of your screen. Click settings. Then on the left column click security, finally you should see "legacy contact".
